Staying connected is a common issue amongst people who experience homelessness. Mobile phones are essential to keeping connected and safe. Although the majority of homeless people own a mobile phone, sourcing power to charge it up is very difficult.

Lend-a-hand is a power generator and charge storage device that can be attached to lamp posts or street signs. It is a means of crowd sourcing energy. It offers an enjoyable interaction (a high five) to encourage use, providing an easy way for the members of public to engage. Mobile devices can be charged using the USB sockets on the device.
